Public Art to Visualize Air Quality:

Dubuque as the site, air quality local to that area and the Mississippi River Valley...

Ali: LED flowers that change color based on air quality

Corey: collapsing figure, like the toy, that collapses when quality is poor

Jonathan: Video wall to display people's selfies, people send image in and it gets displayed but with color shift to convey air quality info. more info about the specific data also display on back. app for phone to show air quality.

Nick: cracked lungs sculpture, illuminated from within and the color of this light relates to air quality.

hanging grid of many small screens, each screen displays a picture that someone sends in, perhaps with a statement about air quality- and display actual air quality alongside.

Alex: take existing data and make a visual map that uses color to be easily understood.

Felipe: tweet something to the sculpture, text something... create an app so that people can control the sculpture. create an app that gathers data, perhaps by asking you questions throughout the day, and you bring your phone to the sculpture, it somehow gets your data and responds.

Chrissy: create a simulation that would show each persons contribution to air pollution. Maybe a garden that changes somehow, plants droop or perk up based on users info. Garden could show current overall air quality, but then maybe a user survey at the site that could show the user's impact.

Group: Based on Sensor Valley Project, use multiple columns of light, could be shaped like blades of grass, and they would display color based on current air quality, also sound ranging from natural to industrial. People would also have the ability to see their own effects somehow, either by answering questions on site, or maybe some app that could be on phones, people get asked questions throughout the day, and then go to the sculpture to upload their data and see the result. Survey could be on paper, or kiosk on site, or website... based on the answers you get a score, text the sculpture with that score to see your result.
